Curriculum Overview

At St John’s Stonefold, we aim to provide excellent learning opportunities, promoting achievement in every area and nurturing the whole child. We carefully plan our curriculum based on our school vision, “Rooted and Established in God’s love: nurture, grow, fly” Ephesians 3:17. Our vision is to live and grow together as a loving church school family, who celebrate one another’s individuality. Built upon our shared Christian values, St John’s provides our children with teaching of a bespoke and innovative curriculum, empowering them to flourish with the knowledge and skills for life. Through our commitment to developing the whole child, our children have the opportunity to be creative, to be physically active and to be academically challenged. As our children gain confidence and skills we hope that they will go on to become compassionate, well balanced members of society. They will have a love of learning and be equipped to become lifelong learners. We inspire our children to have uncompromising aspirations and to thrive and succeed.

Our pupils will take their place in society as active citizens, economically independent, exemplifying the British values of equality, tolerance, democracy, individual liberty and rule of law. We strive to provide them with the skills, knowledge and understanding required for life in the twenty-first century. The learning opportunities provided for the children and the teaching styles that are used are constantly under review. We have developed units of work that cross the boundaries of subject areas and focus on the development of skills and supporting knowledge, which can then be used and applied in all areas of life and learning. These all meet the requirements of the new National Curriculum (2014) and have been suggested by the Local Authority. We believe that learning should be exciting, stimulating, challenging and, above all, fun!
